This research study ÃÂÃÂ¢ÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂSocio-economic Conditions of seasonal migrants in the Quetta valley,ÃÂÃÂ¢ÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂ is planned to explore the socio-economic Conditions of seasonal migrants who come during the summer season in the Quetta valley and camp in the open ground where they find space. Being capital of Balochistan and a resort valley, Quetta has always been an attractive place for these migrants, they have been coming since generation to enjoy the season and to have some jobs during the summer season. This study is aimed at exploring the socio-economic conditions of these migrants. As the majority of respondents were illiterate so an interviewing schedule was used for data collection. A total of 200 heads of the families were interviewed, out of a population of 20,000 constituting an estimated No of 2000 families. 10% heads of the families were chosen through systemic random sampling, which constituted 200 family heads. Due to feeling of insecurity and interruption of their privacy, the researcher has adopted chance sampling. The data was collected within quantitative and quantitative tabulation and graphical me6thods. Hypothesis related to better job opportunities to sell their indigenous products in Quetta market and development of skills for the increase of their income. To verify the hypothesis Chi-square tests is also applied. According to the findings of the study the seasonal migrants live in extremely miserable conditions with no basic facilities such as portable water, electricity, health, educational and recreational facilities. Hygienic conditions and environment are very poor people have no toilets, both or kitchen facilities in their tents. The people live with their families comprising of an average of 10 to 12 members in the small tent having the size of 10 x 10 feet. They have no domestic facilities in their camps. They have large families less earning. Due to these factors prosperity and better standard of living is a dream for them. The migrant adhere in close relation to their tribe but they do not have proper leadership. They have emotional attachment with their family occupation, but they do not want their children to adopt the same profession as that of their forefathers. The migrants involve in traditional professions like making iron tools, mats, grooms and baskets. They earn very limited income from their work. If they have some financial assistance to organize their work according to present needs and have support for marketing of their products, their income may be increase. This will also improve their living standards. They are looking for the financial assistance for the improvement for their business. They have shown their desire that government may provide the residential plots for their permanent settlement in Quetta. It has been also observed that no department of government or any NGO had paid any attention to their development. The study recommends that i5the migrants need immediate attention of the government and the NGO s in order to enable them to enjoy the basic facilities that is the right of every human being.
