Abstract
The thesis describes studies on the chemical constuents of Skmmialaureala.Hook Adhotoda vastea Nees and Sarcococca saligna (D.Don) Muel. Studies on the chemical constituents of these plants have lead to the isolation of eleven new quinoline, triterpene and coumarin compounds. In addition eleven known quinzoline, furanoquinline pyranoquinoline and substituted comarine have been detected for the first time from these plants. Modern spectroscopic methods were employed to determine their structures.
