Abstract
The present thesis is composed of two parts. The part “A” describes on the diterpnoidal constituents of marine brown alga Dictyota indica which has led to the isolation and structure elucidation so five new diterpenoids named as indicol, indicarol acetate, dictinol, dictindiol and dictintriol. Three more diterpenoids named linerarol, isolinearol and amijiol have been reported fro the first time from this alga. The compounds indicol, indicarol acetate, linearol and isolinerol belongs to secodolastane class of diterpenoids while dictinol, dictindiol, dictintriol and amijiol belong to dolastane class
