EFFORTS OF SCHOLARS OF MALDIVES IN TRANSLATING THE MEANING OF THE QURAN AND ITS INTERPRETATION

Abstract

I selected the topic to appreciate the efforts of scholars of Maldives with regard to translation and interpretation of the Holy Quran so that we may not lose them. The importance of the subject can be summarized in the following points. Firstly, Collection of the works of various scholars of Maldives for ready reference. Secondly, Throwing light on emergence of Islam in Maldives and mentioning sum of their beliefs, political and social system before advent of Islam. Thirdly, As the Maldivian it was my duty to read the prevalent translation, evaluate them and record them as a contribution towards the Holy Quran.
