Abstract
The present research aimed at emphasizing the role of Psychological Risk Factors in the development of Cardiovascular Disorders. For this purpose, the following hypotheses were formulated: 1) The Mean Trait Anxiety Scores of the Cardiac Patients will be more as compared t the Non cardiac patients. 2) The mean Achievement scores of ht cardiac patients will be more as compared to the Noon cardiac patients. 3) The mean aggression scores of the cardiac patients will be more as compared to the non cardiac patients and 4) The mean Dominance Scores of the cardiac patients will be more as compared to the non cardiac patients.

In order to test these hypotheses, fifty male cardiac patients were selected from the In-patient wards of the hospital of Karachi, having cardiac units and fifty non cardiac patients, who were matched on the variables of age sex, residential area and education, served as the sample for the present research. Their level of Anxiety, achievement, aggression and Dominance was measured through PRF and TAT, t test and ANOVA were applied to get the statistical significance of the results.

The findings suggest that the mean Trait Anxiety, Achievement and Aggression scores of the Cardiac patients were significantly high as compared to the Non cardiac patients. Whereas the mean Dominance scores of the cardiac patients and Non cardiac patients do not indicate significant difference between both the groups. Avenues for further research and recommendations for cardiac patients are given.
