Abstract

The purpose of the present study was to investigate relationship among childhood paternal loss, sex-role orientation, self-esteem, and locus of control in male and female students. The literature does provide support for the relevant relationship among these variables; however, such evidence is not entirely unambiguous and, therefore, deserving of further study. The sample for the present study comprised of 100 students 50 who lost their fathers between the ages of 0 and 10 years (father loss group) and 50 whose fathers were presently alive and lived with them (father present group). The ages of the subject sample ranged between 16 to 20 years. Adapted versions of bems sex-Rol inventory, Resenberg
