Abstract

All religions are in a way means to approach God. The eagerness for this approach means mysticism. All the religions have different view of conceptions for it. The symbol of connection between man & God are discussed in the introductory chapter. The second chapter discusses relation of mysticism with Islam. It has been called ‘Faqr’ by the holy Prophet of Islam. The third chapter deals with evolution of symbolism & its link with Punjab mystical poetry. The fourth chapter discusses the earlier Punjabi mystic poets as the fifth chapter discusses the remaining poets. Only those poets are discussed who either call them selves mystic poets or have devoted them lives to mysticism. Then symbolic system has been presented comprehensively. The sixth chapter deals with political, social & religious background of mystic symbols as the last & the seventh chapter deals with their importance
