Abstract Prunus armeniaca belonging to Rosaceae family and the genus Prunus, which is widely distributed in areas of higher altitudes. In Pakistan, it is cultivated in Baluchistan and Kashmir. In the present studies we have isolated and characterized the various chemical constituents present in the different parts of the plant. We took the flash fruits for investigation. The flashy portion was removed from the kernel, plant material was extracted with methanol at room temperature. The concentrated methanolic extract after removal of solvent under reduced pressure was subjected to fractionation with different solvents in order to separate various polar and non-polar fractions. The isolation of the constituents was achieved by different chromatographic techniques and repeated recrystallization methods, and through chemical transformations. The structure of the compounds so obtained were studied with the help of spectroscopic methods like IH-NMR, IR, 13C-NMR and mass spectroscopy. The compounds isolated belongs to oleanane/ ursane series, and the sterol alongwith its glucoside has also been obtained from this source for the first time. Another nitrogenous compound have also been reported for the first time from this source. The compounds isolated have been designated as 01,02,03,04,05,06 and 07.
