Abstract
This work pertains to the study of nonlinear ion acoustic wave phenomena. There are several methods devised by various authors to reach a standard classical equation having solutions which describe such a wave phenomena. To adumbrate there is the reductive perturbation, the derivative expansion and the Krylov-Bogoliubov Mitropolski (KBM) perturbation method. Innately the three are equivalent; all resulting in the standard Nonlinear Schrodinger Equation. The author has used the KBM method and explained the effect of ionic temperature and inhomogeneity on the stability of ion-acoustic waves in a collisionless plasma.
