Abstract
In this thesis, we investigate some of the implications of explicit R-parity breaking via the lepton number violation in the minimal supersymmetric standard model. In this model we study the tree-level effect to hypercharge changing semileptonic decays of certain baryons. We find that this study leads to new set of constraints on the products of R-parity violating Yukawa couplings arising from the LQdc operator of super potential. We further, investigate the flavour conserving and flavour violating leptonic decays of charged and neutral pseudo scalar mesons. Such decays set bounds on certain products of couplings arising from LLec and LQdc operators. Some of the bounds derived are competitive with existing ones, some are new and others are improved. This thesis also gives an extensive review of various product-couplings derived in the existing literature, which have been classified and tabulated. We also study the universality breaking effect in this model using the decays of W and Z bosons. This study leads to new limits on the universality breaking parameter as a possible manifestation of physics beyond the standard model in future experiments.
