Abstract
Interaction of electromagnetic waves with a collisional magneto plasma is investigated. An interaction of electroacoustic plane plasma waves is also considered. A three dimensional wave equation is derived as basis of the problem. This equation is split into two independent equations, one dealing with the transmission of a longitudinal wav. Three equations are solved separately. The analysis shows that the transmitted components of both the transverse and the longitudinal waves are damped in the plasma sphere. It is found that the transmitted transverse wave makes the velocity of the plasma depend on the cyclotron frequency as well as on the collision frequency, whereas the velocity of the plasma is independent of both the above frequencies for a transmitted longitudinal wave. Important quantities like intensities, scattering cross sections, phase coefficients, attenuation factor, attenuation length (akin depth ), complex dielectric constant and refractive index are calculated in different frequency regions
