This work constitutes the study of systematics, bioecology, diversity, abundance and economic importance of cicadellid leafhoppers from Pakistan. The area lies on the western border of Oriental region, and to-date there has been little or no work done on their taxonomy, biology, diversity or distribution. There also not exists any significant information about their economic importance. During the study, a general survey of leafhoppers of agricultural crops, grasses, vegetable and fruit plants, forest trees and wild bushes was carried out as a result of which several thousands of these insects were collected from all over Pakistan and Azad Kashmir. The determination of species occurring in Pakistan is carried out. Population studies including abundance with time season and locality have been taken up. Biology, ecology and sex ratio of economically significant species involved was also carried out and correlated with population density. Temporal diversity of leafhoppers and the relative abundance pattern of leafhopper community was also computed. All conclusions have been drawn with the help of biological data thus collected. The work also includes key to the subfamilies, tribes, genera and species.
