Abstract Sermons of the prophet in an aspect of the Biography of the prophet despite the fact that many books have been written in different languages on Biography, no serious attempt has been made to collect sermons of the prophet. The collection of extant books on the topic suppers from the following defect we find many traditions therein which are not related to the subject of sermon. Some traditions relate to the sermons of the companions whereas some other are either too brief or taken from the un-know books. My method of research consist of the following points:- 1 Before collection sermons I have thoroughly shivered all authentic and basic books on Hadith and Sirat 2 I have mentioned all traditions under the relevant sermon whereas the writers before me have considered each tradition as a separate sermon. 3 I have prepared those tradition in which the occurrence in mentioned in detail. 4 Detailed tradition are treated as text whereas brief traditions are mention marginally 5 Brief traditions without any difference in their texts are not repeated 6 Those traditions are considered to be sermon in which its is clearly stated that these words were only as a sermon. 7 Places other than sermons where tradition was reported has been clearly mentioned 8 Attempt has been made to state the background of sermon and determine its date but this detail is not available in each and every sermon The detail of total numbers of 290 sermons is as under:- Sermons for call to Islam=13 Sermons for texts of Orders=75 Sermons for Holy war and battles=31 Sermons for Farewell pilgrimage=18 Sermons for guidance=153 These are possibility to continue this work on the following lines:- 1 Verifying the chain of transmission sifting weak from sound 2 All other sermons with various versions should be transferred to Urdu. |
