Abstract
Short story heralded the end of traditional storytelling. This thesis analyses the backdrop to the new trend. Ghulam Abbas took up writing short stories when the trend was firming up as a tradition. Ghulam Abbas was the man of his age and so, his short stories can be better understood if we know their socio-political context.
