Abstract This thesis deals with the various characteristics of nucleon-nucleon elastic scattering processes at ISR and Collider energies and beyond. After surveying the literature on the experimental measurements of these reactions, a detailed account of the pristine Chou-Yang model is given. The form factors of nucleons involved in these scattering processes are then critically examined. It is shown that the existing parameterizations of the proton form factor are inconsistent with the experimental data. A new parameterization of the same consistent with the recently measured experimental data is proposed. The Chou-Yang model is then generalized by using the multiple diffraction theory. A detailed account of the applications of the model to pp, pp and np elastic scattering is given. The predications of the model have been found to agree not only with the experimental data at ISR and higher energies but also with the low energy measurements made at FNAL. The Agreement between the predicated values and the experimental data for the elastic scattering at all momentum transfers is a success for the multiple diffraction theory which takes into account the anisotropic nature of the scattering phenomena.
