Abstract
Syntheses of 2-(pyrazol-1-yl) pyridine and 2-(3,5-dimethylpryazol-1-yl) pyridine were carried out by the condensation of pyrazole and 3,5-dimethylpyrazole with 2-bromopyridine. When 1-chloro-2nitro benzene was treated with pyrazole and 3,5-dimethylpyrazole resulted in the formation of 1-(ο- nitrophenyl) pryazole and 1-(ο-nitrophenyl)-3,5-dimethylpyrazole respectively. 1-(ο-Aminophenyl) pyrazole was formed by the reduction of 1-(ο €“nitrophenyl) pyrazole with in and hydrochloric acid. Condensation of pyrazole with ο- chlorobenzoic acid gave ο-(pyrazol-1-yl) benzoic acid. The complex formation of these ligands with Ag(I), Au(III), Zn(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II) was studied. Their stoichiometric studies were carried out by using Job€™s method of continuous variation and the complexes were subsequently synthesized.

Evaluation of the complexes was carried out on the basis of analytical data for metal determination by atomic absorption technique, spectroscopic evidence and x-rays diffraction. The antibacterial activities of the chelates synthesized during this work were also studied against Micrococcus leutus and Bacillus employing agar diffusion method
