Abstract

Forty one species of the subfamily Phyllocephalinae amyot et serville of Pentatomidae leach including three new tribes, two new genera and fifteen new species from various localities of indo-Pakistan subcontinent with one tribe, twelve genera and twenty two species previously recorded are described in detail where available with special reference to their metathoracic scent gland ostioles and male and female genitalia. The new taxa are compared with their closest allies and keys to all the tribes, genera and species are formulated on the basis of the above more reliable characters to help readily identify the above taxa. Description of the Ethiopian albivittis (Germar), the type species of the genus Gellia staol is also included Aspects of internal anatomy and histology with reference to alimentary, male and female reproductive organs and scent and salivary apparatus and larval morphology of four more common representatives from various localities of Pakistan, are described in detail and all the above characters are analysed in order to establish the relationship of the included taxa. A tentative cladogram is also presented and is briefly discussed
