Abstract
Present study on one or more of the following aspects of the internal anatomy, 1) the scent apparatus, 2) the alimentary organs and the salivary glands, 3) the meso-and metapectus, and 4), the reproductive organs, has been carried out on 96 species belonging to 25 families of the land bugs(Geocorisae) of Pakistan. Special emphasis is given to the structure of the scent apparatus and the meso-and metapectus. The results are compared with findings reported in the existing literature. It appears that the scheme of Carayon (1971), later supported be Cobben (1978), for probable evolution of the scent apparatus in the Heteroptera, can not be accepted on the basis of present findings. It has been further noted that there is strong association between degrees of development of certain characters of alimentary organs with certain structures of the scent apparatus in the Geocorisae
