Abstract
Today Globalization with the improvement in the communication has changed the face of the globe. Local geographical boundaries have been invaded and eroded by the force of the modern mass communication. This change has brought many traditional and conservative cultures, in direct exposure has evolved as a strongest agent to disseminate programs carrying cultures of these sending countries

Also in Pakistan, cable TV is the fastest growing medium in communication. Through this TV system the rural population has now gained access to the local as well as the foreign TV channels, which was not so earlier, PTV (Pakistan Television), which is the state owned TV channel had been the option for these villagers

According to government publications, named PEMRA (Pakistan Electronic Media Regularity Authority) “last three years have witnessed growth of around 132% in the cable TV industry in Pakistan

Considering this new trend, especially in the villages in Karachi, researcher was motivated to conduct study, by making exposure to the TV as an independent variable category, through different dimensions, and developing a correlation with the different indicators showing the socio economic changes in these villages

Present research has been developed to test a total of nine Ho hypotheses, out of these nine hypotheses five Ho have been rejected. The make 55.5% of the hypotheses have correlation. Between the exposure to the TV in different dimensions and socioeconomic indicators of change. Surprisingly, exactly the same result in terms of the percentage is found from the Statistical item Table also. In this table, 55.5% of the answers have come out to be showing a change in the socio-economic conditions and attitudes in the village population. In this Statistical Item Table, total answers collected through the questions in the interview schedule. These were first tabulated, and then half of these answers were made as a yardstick to measure change

A total of 3600 answers were collected. 1800 is the half of this total. 1998 answers came out from the category showing socio-economic attitudes and conditions, this makes 55.5% of the 3600 answers, and 1602 answers came in the category showing same traditional conditions and attitudes. These inferences are self-supporting, showing a congruence of results. This reveals that the rate of change is poor and weak in these villages, especially with the reference of TC exposure

Present research is divided into six chapters. First chapter, is the chapter of Introduction. This chapter in detail discusses Karachi, its villages and the concept of development. Development has been a term jointly shared by economist, sociologist and even by the media persons. Further there is no single dimension to development first or the economic development. Historically economic development had been recognized as the single yardstick to measure development, especially the GNP. But in the recent years social variables have gained more value. It is now recommended to equate poverty first so that it will take care of the GNP. In details the chapter discusses this issue. Further in the chapter, the role of TV has been analyzed in the process of development. Issues of socialization such as that of Gender Images are mostly constructed through the media

Chapter second explores different researches related to cable TV in Pakistan Further different TV and media researches have been analyzed with their role in socioeconomic relation. Pakistani study on TV, such as that by PEMRA, has been discussed in this chapter,. Few researches regarding gender have also been discussed

Chapter third is about different theories, especially sociological, related with the issues of change and development. Karl Marx’s and Weber’s concepts regarding change have been discussed. Further cultivation Theory. Which is a media theory, has been analyzed, which states, that contents of the programs are not important but the time of TV exposure is important

Chapter four is about the methodology applied in this research. Sampling techniques have been analyzed in detail. Further chi-square has been used as a technique for the testing of the hypotheses

Chapter fifth is about the simple frequency tables, through which the variables have been represented. Contingency tables have been used for the testing of the hypotheses

Chapter sixth in detail discusses the conclusions. In this research conclusion has been constructed jointly through the simple tables, contingency tables, relevant researches and theories. A Statistical Item Tables has also been developed to measure the socioeconomic conditions, attitudes and opinion. The results are congruent to each other

The present research also includes seventeen sets of different photographs, depicting a visual view of the socio-economic conditions in the villages. This present effort is a bridge between the use of TV and sociological relationships related with it
