Abstract
This study is based on the Taxonomy and morphology of marine carides (Crustacea, Decapoda) of Pakistan. The carides of the Indian Ocean in general and those of the Northern Arabian Sea in particular have been greatly neglected. This is the first attempt to describe in detail the carides of the Northern Arabian Sea as well as those from the Bay of Bengal.

The material at hand comprises of 20 species belonging to 12 genera and 7 families. Among these Processa edulis (Family Alpheidae) are first ever recorded from the Indian Ocean. Acanthephyra eximia (Family oplophoridae) is the first subsequent record of this species from Northern Arabian Sea. Synalpheus tumidomanus, Athanas dimorphus and Pontocaris Pennata are recorded for the first time from Northern Arabian Sea. Alpheus tirmiziae is described as new to the science.

Oral appendages and peraeopods are minutely examined, where enough specimens are available secondary sexual characters and individual variation is also studies. Colour of live specimens is carefully noted.
