Abstract

In the present dissertation, nine species of Porcellanid crabs, Pachycheles Natalensis (Krauss), P. tomentosus Henderson, Petrolisthes boscii (Audouin), P. ornatus Paulson, P. rufescens (Heller), P. lamarckii (Leach), Pisidia dehaanii (Krauss), P. delagoae (Barnard) and Procellana gravelei Sankolli are described from Karachi, Pakistan. In addition, the larval development from hatching to the megalopal stage under laboratory conditions of first six above mentioned spices are described and illustrated. Besides these, Procellana savanna (Leach), a Western Atlantic species was reared through second zoeal stage at Duke University Marine Laboratory, Beaufort, North Carolina U.S.A their description and illustrations are also included
