Abstract
Prior to the present investigation excluding the overlapping zones of Indian Assam and west Bangal, only one species of the genus Tricentrus stoal, T. kamaonensis distant (probably misidentification of T. nordicornis sp.n.) was recorded by Ghauri (1964) from Swat, north west of Pakistan. From Bangladesh there was no mention of any tricentrus species in the literature. Thirty seven species are presently described, thirty species are new to the world literature of membracoidea whereas seven species are recorded for the first time from various localities of Pakistan, Azad Kashmir and Bangladesh. Further, forty one already described exotic species are studied and discussed for ascertaining the phylogenetic relationship of the present group. The distribution range of the genus tricentrus stalis also extended in the areas of Baluchistan which from overlapping zone within Palaearctic region

A new tribe tricentrini is described to accommodate the present genus Tricentrus stoal, along with the genera Tricentroides Distant and Sipylus stoal, previously placed under two different tribes centrotini Goding and Gargarini Distant respectively. Two other genera Otaris Buckton and Centrotoscelus Funkhouser, also placed previously under the above altogether different tribes, are considered synonyms of Tricentrus stoal. The type species of all the genera of the present new tirbe including those presently considered synonyms of Tricentrus stoal are re-described in detail alongwith a description and illustrations of their male genitalia to throw some light on the phylogenetic position of these genera within the present new tribe Tricentrini

Keys are formulated to the genera of the tribe Tricentrini and to the species of the genus Tricentrus stoal from Pakistan, Azad Kashmir and Bangladesh. All the species presently included are described in a considerable detail with special reference to their male genitalia, for these important characters were entirely unexplored in the species of the indo-Pakistan subcontinent

Biology of one species of the genus Tricentrus stoal (T.bucktoni sp.n.) is investigated for the evaluation of immature characters in the solution of some of the phylogenetic problems. The fifth stage immatures of two other species viz. T. variabilis sp.n. and T. nordicornis sp.n. are also illustrated and compared with that of T. bucktoni s.p.n. and that of T.fairmairei (stoal) illustrated by Funkhouser (1919) for the evaluation of immature characters at specitic livel

Karyotypes of five species of Tricentrus viz. T. bicolor Dist., T. bucktoni sp.n., T. varibilis sp.n., T. gibbosulus (walk.), T. ressellae sp.n. and T. variabilis sp.n. are also determined and described in this context and in the light of these characters, a tentative phylogenetic scheme of the tricentrine genera and the species of the genus Tricentrus stoal is briefly discussed (fig. 297)

T. brunueus (Funk.) 1927c comb.nov., T.minor lindberg 1936 and T. gracilis Kato 1929, Junior homonyms of T. brunneus Funk. 1918b, T.minor (Schmidt) 1911 comb.nov. and T. gracilis (Kato) 1928b comb.nov. respectively are renamed along with a note on their present taxonomic status

Xanthosticta pseudocornis (Funk.) 1920 & all the present included species previously placed in the then valid genera, Centrotoscelus Funk. And Otaris Buckton are hereby transferred to the genus Tricentrus stoal
