ISOLATION AND STRUCTURAL STUDIES ON THE CHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS OF BUXUS SPECIES

Abstract

Studies on the chemical constituents of the leaves of Buxus sempervirens have led to the isolation of seven new steroidal alkaloids and a new flavonoid glycoside. In addition, seven other alkaloids and two flavonoids have also been isolated. Modern spectroscopic techniques were employed to determine the structures of the compounds A new system of nomenclature has been established from Buxus alkaloids which gives considerable short and easy names.
