Abstract One hundred and six samples of adipose tissues, blood and serum which were collected from different hospitals and laboratories were found to be contaminated with pesticides or with their metabolites Majority of the samples taken from Jinnah hospital (JPMC) were found to have DDT whereas all the adipose tissues collected from Baqai Hospital have dieldrin in high quantity. The malathion (OP compound) was not detected in any of the sample, whereas deltamethrin was found in only two samples taken from JPMC The blood and serum were found to contain more pesticides than fat or the adipose tissues which were taken from three different laboratories. DDE was the frequently detected pesticide in blood samples. Malathion was found in few samples but relatively in higher quantity. The serum and blood samples of persons engaged in tenakil formulation were found to have high quantity of tenakil The serum and blood samples were also checked for estimation of % activity of cholinesterase. Some of these samples were found to have low, whereas some have normal activity of cholinesterase
